Play is essential to every child’s learning and development. It enables children to make decisions, learn, take risks, and have fun. At our Hughesdale child care centre, our experienced team plan play-based learning activities in line with national standards. The Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) is designed to engage in your child’s interests and allow them to experience each day in a new way, supporting their learning in the lead-up to primary school.

Our Early Learning Curriculum also provides children with:

  • Sustainability Program: Each age group participates in a sustainability project that helps children embed sustainable practices into everyday life. Children learn about recycling, conserving water, growing food and the importance of looking after and protecting our planet.
  • Music and movement programs: Our music programs have been designed to help develop fundamental skills that help support children’s self-regulation, memory and concentration.
  • Sports Program: This program is designed to encourage activity and movement, while also building the children’s motor skills.

Pam Molczyk

I joined Headstart Hughesdale as the centre manager in 2023. I hold a Diploma in children’s services. In my career, I have worked in many different aspects of the early childhood education sector, from occasional care, nannying and long day care as an assistant, lead educator, educational leader assistant centre manager and now as a centre manager.

I find it truly rewarding to be part of each child’s learning journey. As educators, we learn just as much from the children as they learn from us. When you are open to listening and learning from the children, you can build strong, long-lasting relationships with them.

My role is to support and guide children by allowing them to experience trial and error in a secure and inspiring environment. I draw from my experiences as an educator in the rooms and as a mother of a child attending care. I am always open, honest, and available for all families.

Rooms and Facilities

Headstart Early Learning Hughesdale provides early education and child care for children from nursery age through to kindergarten. Each room has been planned and set up to deliver the best early learning experience for your child.

Nursery (6 weeks – 2 years)

Learning starts from birth. Our nursery educators have created a welcoming and nurturing environment where each baby feels safe to explore and discover new things – through their senses, their communication cues and through experimentation.

On any given day you can see the nursery children engaging in all types of meaningful play, including water play, music time, story time and more.

Toddlers (2 – 3 years)

Our teachers and educators encourage toddlers to learn through play to help enhance their sensory-motor development. This learning happens through group play, music, dance, games and reading experiences.

On any given day the children can be seen developing their numeracy by building towers, sorting objects, identifying shapes and patterns and participating in counting songs and games. Our team guides children through social skill development, talking, planning and role modelling.

Kindergarten (3 – 5 years)

Our Kindergarten programs are tailored to meet your child’s individual learning needs across numeracy, literacy, emotional and social development, resilience, and self-regulation.

We offer the VIC Government-approved Kindergarten enhanced learning program, supporting your child’s development and well-being from now, at school and beyond. In Victoria, 3- and 4-year-old children are able to access a funded Kindergarten program led by a Bachelor Qualified Teacher. If eligible, your child will be able to participate in the government-approved Kindergarten program, at no cost, up to a minimum of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year. Talk to us about how this reduces your out-of-pocket costs.

The added benefits of our Kindergarten program include:

  • VIC ‘Best Start, Best Life’ Government-approved program
  • Extended opening hours
  • Open all year round (excl. public holidays)

After you enrol your child with the centre, you can utilise Xplor Home to book child care days, manage your account, receive the photographs that capture your child’s learning, learn about your child’s progress, as well as keep up-to-date with upcoming centre events and important information.

If your child shows signs of an infectious illness when they arrive at the centre or becomes sick during the day, you may be notified that you need to make alternative arrangements or pick up your child from the centre, and keep them home until they are no longer infectious. While we understand that this can be inconvenient, Headstart is committed to maintaining a healthy environment and reducing the risk of infection for all children.

Under the Child Care Subsidy (CCS), families are allowed 42 absence days per child, per financial year. These can be taken for any reason, including public holidays and when children are sick, without the need for families to provide documentation.
